Di Atherton
We all know and love Di, the original founder and nurturer for many years, of the Circle of Light. Di started the COL in September 2002 at a time when "alternative" interests and holistic living were not part of the mainstream in the Lowveld. After initial concerns about being run out of town, Di forged ahead and organised many holistic fairs, workshops and COL breakfasts; she established a far-reaching directory of therapists and services, and launched the Circle of Light Link-Up magazine. Through Di's efforts the COL mailing list now exceeds 500 and extends to Maputo, Swaziland, Middelburg and other areas north and south of the Lowveld. As well as all this Di is an accredited Reiki Master who teaches regular Reiki 1 and 2 classes. Her passion is empowering people, particularly women and the youth, and she developed a one day empowerment workshop The Power Within, which has been run in the rural communities as well as for the Government and corporate business. She developed a Youth Leadership Course for learners in rural schools and is a motivational speaker. Her current project is Woman Inc, with Alex Asman, which focuses on bringing the fun and play back into womens lives.
Di will be submitting her "monthly musings" for publication here; most of us are familiar with Di's insightful observations and humour and it's wonderful to have them on our website too!
Spring is in the Air!
... and no wonder the poets loved this season, as it simply stirs the soul. Visual evidence of nature's creativity and expression are evident as we witness the gentle emergence of spring. Who cannot marvel at the scent of the jasmine, the sweet, new green of the leaves and the crispness in the air?
